I am so old

Halloween, beyond the wonder and zeal of toddlers experiencing the power of knocking on doors and receiving compliments and free candy, had a dark side. Throng after throng of older trick-or-treaters passed us and try as I might the force of scathing judgement took hold and I straddled the line between clenched and dropped jaw.

Gore. Whore

Honestly, it seemed that the boys were going for nasty and the girls were going for, ah, nasty. When did that happen? When did Halloween become showing as much skin as possible and being as foul as possible?

I realize that every generation says that their generation had it different, life was harder, times were simpler. Whatever.

I like music. I like singers, by man alive, I am tired of unnecessary and unapologetic extra skin– case in point:

Did she need to yank the shirt up? Will we ever get back to a place where less is more doesn't mean less clothing?

*********

Tomorrow. Vote. You will make a difference.

The little girl costumes were atrocious and skanky.

I've made a pact with my friends to not go down that path...

(And tomorrow? I'm voting.)

I always get so shocked at what parents let their girls go to the mall in. I always want to throw a blanket over them to cover them up

I'm not even a parent and it shocks me to the core the way kids act over here. Seems even more so in the UK, where girls as young as 23 have breasts the size of small melons, binge drink, have sex, and wear enough makeup to put MAC out of business. Incredible. Makes me VERY nervous about having kids someday...! x

Interesting observation. I've noticed this with adults, but at an adult party, it's kind of the point. Never have many trick or treaters in my area, so I didn't realize this was happening! EGAD! I have seen those little "skirts" the teeny boppers wear. Dear sweet lord, cover your freaking butts already!

So with you on this one. Last year we saw a 12 year old "dressed up" as a Hooters Girl. Try explaining that one to your little girl. Where. Are. The. Parents???? My parents would have NEVER let me walk out of the house the way many of these girls do today!

Voted last week - can't wait to hear the results tonight - GO OBAMA!

At least her thumb wasn't hooked into her waistband. That was the look not too many months ago.

i totally agree with you. once your child gets to a certain age, some of the costumes are just WRONG!

OMG, slut-o-ween, that is totally it!

I'll lock 'em up in a castle and feed them bread and water before I let them out of the house with their midriffs exposed or their butt cheeks hanging out of a pair of Daisy Dukes.

And that goes for my boys too.

I think it is obnoxious. Even costumes for preschoolers were over the top. Where is the innocence?

Looking online for my (preschool) girls' costumes I was completely horrified. Who thinks it's OK to send a young girl out for Halloween dressed as a slutty nurse/cheerleader/witch/goth girl/cat. I even saw a Little Bo Peep costume that barely covered the girls' butt and the accessories included striped thigh high stockings. Seriously? What is wrong with our culture?
