Better, thanks.

The girls sprang from their beds this morning, puffy eyes bright and glassy, little noses endearingly crusty and stuffy. I kept them bundled and loved up, trying desperately not to hold them in my arms all day. They were normalish, appetites weaker than usual and a tendency toward falling and slamming abruptly into walls usually reserved for up-past-bedtime romps.

Your comments lifted me, especially the admission from Sam that they might be dipping into cough medicine contra band. To Chelle, Cathy, Sam and Heather, here's hoping your little ones are feeling better too.

Off to stand by their beds checking their breathing and reverently caressing the swells of their cheeks.

Glad they are better... Sick babies are no fun for mama!

Oh how easy it was to say we wouldn't give them any of that bad medicine of course that is before they get sick. I am waiting in fear for our sessions of fall, winter and spring colds and coughs.
I went to Madeline's school this week and the whole class was glassy eyed, sneezing and coughing into their little elbows. I came home and must have washed my hands 5 times in 15 minutes.
Oh where oh where can I get my hands on a bubble to put them in?

Zoe's sick too. I had thrown away everything that was recalled. But... I just went to the store and they do have other medicines on the shelves. Rather than the pediacare infant decongestant and cough drops (which were recalled) they do still have the children's pediacare... which has doses for ages 2-6 and for 6 and up. They also had a few other brands. I saw quite a few "new formula" labels.

I'm afraid I'm just a person who thinks sometimes medicine is needed.

Poor babies. I hope everyone gets to feeling better soon.

We ended up not using the cold medicine, but it did bring me some comfort just having it as a back up. It is so hard when your little ones have a cough or are so congested. It feels as if I have nothing to offer for comfort anymore except my love! It is hard because I just want him to breathe easy and sleep well.

Glad little ole blogger comments can lift your spirits. I think that's what everyone tries to do when they leave comments. I would almost bet that most bloggers are a little anti-social in their real lives and love opening up online.

I knew you had spunk from the wink posts. One of the reasons I am drawn to your blogs.

I hope the girls feel better soon, but until they do give them lots of hugs from the internet.

Oh, little bright red noses.

I'm back to the old stand by that my grandparents parents gave them: whiskey and honey.

Sounds like there is some mending going on...hope that it continues that direction!

Mine go from feeling better to feeling icky again, back to better. Here's hoping for the pendullum to swing to better for tomorrow...

Disclaimer: This sounds totally WEIRD, but I swear it works. Being the good mama I am (said with slight sarcasm) I tried it myself:

Old wives tale: Smear Vicks Vapor Rub on their heels and then put socks on them. Right before bedtime.

We've been doing this with the boyz. We've all had the crud noses in the Trenches. I swear it helps!

Please let me know if you (dare to) try this and let me know how it works for you! I now swear by it.

Trenches - You're brilliant. Briar will not allow chap stick or lotion on her almost-painful-to loook-at-they're-so-chapped lips. Her feet, though> her feet she;ll let me rub all kinds of goodness on, I am so trying this. Besides, I love the smell of Vicks.

Mine are finally getting better as well, although we still have the lingering coughs.

That's a great idea, rubbing Vicks on the heels. I love that stuff too.

Glad to hear yours also are on the mend.
